3rd international conference on Responsible Use of antibiotics in animals

  • The 3rd international conference on Responsible Use of antibiotics in animals will be held in Amsterdam from 29 September to 1 October 2014. It is aimed at the animal health industry and the medical community, users of antibiotics in animals - such as veterinarians, producers, and nutritionists - and other food-chain stakeholders, as well as regulators, policy makers, researchers, educators, and consumer organisations.

    The objectives of the conference are to:

    • give an overview of the current status and ongoing activities with respect to the issue of antibiotic use in animals and antimicrobial resistance;
    • learn about the expectations of different parties involved;
    • identify the areas which need further action with respect to the current scientific knowledge and political expectations; and
    • identify possibilities for effective actions, including effective co-ordination of activities.

    Important deadlines

    • Submission deadline for oral presentations: 28 February 2014
    • Submission deadline for poster presentations: 1 August 2014

    Rules for admission

    • Abstracts must be sent by email to:;
    • Abstracts must be submitted in English and shall not exceed 400 words;
    • Abstracts will be accepted in Microsoft Word only;
    • The Advisory Board will determine whether the abstract will be accepted for an oral presentation or a poster presentation, with consideration given to the author's preference;
    • Submission of an abstract acknowledges the author's acceptance for the abstract to be published in the book of abstracts;
    • Presenting authors of abstracts must be registered and paid participants.
